Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is usually evident in children's first three years of life, leading to a shortfall in communication, social interaction, imagination, behavior, assimilation and understanding, as well as obvious failures in social, communicative and adaptive skills.

Children with ASD have difficulties in reciprocal social interactions, abnormalities of verbal and nonverbal communication, little imaginative activity, and preference for restricted activities and interests.

In recent years this group of disorders has increased its prevalence in consultation of psychology, neuropsychology and educational intonation, leading to the need for both health professionals and educational agents to recognize the main characteristics of ASD, its diagnosis and intervention with the aim of improving the daily performance of children in academic areas , social, family and thereby improve their quality of life and that of their caregivers.
