The modality of the event is Face-to-face
This course will delve into aspects of impact evaluation, with practical examples on policies, intervention or real programs. The attractiveness of using evaluation methods will be discussed, as well as the main conceptual problems to identify the causality or not of the interventions that may well be technological components established by public-private institutions. In this sense, different econometric techniques that have been proposed from the literature will be discussed, exposing in detail their advantages and disadvantages. In particular, the following techniques will be discussed in depth: Randomized Controlled Trials, Propensity Score Matching, Regression Discontinuity Design, Difference in Difference Methods, Instrumental Variables, Structural Models and to a lesser degree: Meditation Analysis and Structural Modeling. Each technique (method) presented will be illustrated and discussed with examples and some practical exercises, being mainly applications for Colombia and Latin America.
Knowledge prerequisites: basic and inferential statistics and basic management of Stata and R software.
Target audience, Health professionals and professionals from the social sciences interested.
Master sessions where we will have a theoretical session and a practical session for each impact evaluation method; which should be resolved in small groups in order to have rich discussions. The software that will be used is STATA. Attendees will have the opportunity to empirically replicate part of the papers using the previous reading method the day before classes. It is very important that these readings occur in order to guide the assistant in interpreting the results.
