Projective psychology is the name given to a systematic point of view that developed towards the middle of the 20th century in psychology. The term refers to a body of assumptions, hypotheses, and propositions that clinicians use to study personality (Abt and Bellak, 1950). In simple terms to project is to put outside what is inside. .

Projective tests are diagnostic tools that are gaining more and more acceptance and demand in the organizational field, since, with rigorous training and clinical reasoning as a frame of reference, they facilitate the evaluator to investigate the deepest strata of the personality, already that the lines and figures constitute expressions less controlled by the subject, generating a very high level of validity and reliability. .

The Human Figure test constitutes a source of information and understanding of the deep and enriched personality. Karen Machover in 1949 designed the first Test of the Drawing of a Person associating the drawing of the human figure to the evaluation of the personality. The author raises the relationship between the features of the figures and how they reflect attitudes, concerns and personality traits. .

The Person in the rain test is a complementary projective graphic technique, and therefore must be integrated into a battery of tests. A single isolated feature of the drawing is not sufficient in itself to describe the subject evaluated. An isolated sign or a single drawing cannot tell us everything about the person. Therefore, the recommendation is to apply it in the company of the human figure test, since the latter assesses the personality characteristics in usual and everyday conditions, while the test of the person in the rain seeks to investigate the response of the evaluated person in low conditions. stress. .

The slogan of the test invites the evaluated to place themselves in unpleasant environmental conditions to access the way in which the subject perceives and handles moments of frustration. Like all projective techniques, they are easy, simple and wide-ranging, but demanding in interpretation.
