Evidence-based psychopharmacology is the discipline that studies the action of psychopharmaceuticals on the behavior, emotions and cognitive function of patients with psychiatric disorders. The complexity of this field requires continuous study to keep up with new developments. Therefore, it is necessary to have adequate training in critical reading of the most up-to-date information available, according to the hierarchy of evidence, giving prelation to meta analyses and double-blind randomized and replicated studies, in articulation with the experience in health and the needs of the patient. Clinical decisions based on scientific evidence have shown their usefulness as a tool in decision-making when it has been intended to deliver validated facts and conclusions through an objective, systematic methodology and with an approach as minimally bsewn and relevant to clinical practice. Lang and Santa Cruz, 2015.
