In the age of information and technology, emotional resources seem not to be sufficient to respond to the physical, psychological and social demands that human beings face. This is why crisis situations, despair, catastrophic illnesses, family fragmentation, social conflicts and violence in the daily environment become more visible. This has its origin in the difficulties that people have to respond adaptively to the circumstances that life presents. Previously, crises were a vital circumstance, today the crisis seems to be a condition of existence, which challenges the care spaces to be spaces of containment.

A professional who cares for people in vulnerable circumstances would benefit from knowing the coping skills, internal and external resources that can lead people to overcome critical moments in their lives and obtain significant benefits for the rest of their lives. The theory of the crisis, the different types of intervention and the specific contexts of said intervention are an indispensable tool in which to become a professional.
