Scholarship value and conditions
The scholarship grants 6,000 Canadian dollars, which covers air transportation Medellín - Canada (Montreal) - Medellín, ground transportation: Montreal - Rimouski - Montreal, lodging and 3,675 Canadian dollars that will be delivered to the student for their expenses every two weeks.
The student must cover student insurance.

Who can apply?
Students of the CES University nursing career (undergraduate) may apply, who have an accumulated average during their entire undergraduate degree of at least 3.8, who have obtained at least half of the credits of their studies and are up to date on the requirement of the second language, according to the semester they are studying, who have a B2 level certificate of English, if they are taking the course with the CES University, request the certificate from the language center, if they are doing it in another institute, and who wish carry out an international academic mobility in the second semester of 2020 at the Rimouski University of Québec.

Purpose of the internship
The student will carry out activities derived from the research process, under the tutorship of a research professor from the University of Rimouski, with a progress report to the research coordinator of the Faculty of Nursing. The student will carry out an analysis of public policies for dealing with caregivers in Colombia and Canada, and a thematic review article on institutional support that caregivers receive in Latin America. The dedication time is seven hours a day from Monday to Friday during the internship time (a total of 35 internship days).

Commitments
The beneficiary of this scholarship must carry out an additional research seminar during the months of March, April and May, present periodically and at the end of the internship a report to the Faculty of Nursing and the Office of Global Affairs, likewise must present a report to the Global Affairs Committee about the result of the internship, highlighting the achievements obtained in it. In addition to this, they must carry out two motivational talks: 1. At the destination institution to motivate people from abroad to come to the CES University and, 2. When they return, to make the experience known to the university students and the Faculty of Nursing.

In addition to the above, fulfill the tasks of the research internship and the commitments agreed with the researcher at the University of Rimouski.

Applicant selection criteria

    1. Competences in English certified by the Language Center, if you are not taking the course at the U. CES, meet the second language requirement according to the semester you are studying or be studying at least level 11 of English with a proficiency in B2 , endorsed by the language institute of the CES University.
      Note: The student can also pay for the qualifying test with the CES University Language Center, at a cost of $ 30,000 COP.
    2. Have completed 50% of the academic credits of the degree.
    3. Have a cumulative average throughout their undergraduate degree of at least 3.8
    4. Having taken a research seminar 2, in addition, presenting everything done in research (participation in seedbeds, research with teachers, lectures) other than class products.
    5. Present two letters of recommendation from teachers of the program, on their attitudinal performance.
    6. Present in a brief of 500 words, where you state, why you want to do the research internship.
    7. In the event of a tie between several candidates, the student who demonstrates participation in a research hotbed or has worked in research projects of teachers or academic groups will be taken into account.

Selection process:

  1. Open call by the Office of Global Affairs: the call will be opened and each student will be responsible for applying directly.

  3. The Office of Global Affairs introduces the Faculty of students who have applied for the scholarship.
  4. According to the academic level and attitude concept, the Faculty preselects five (5) candidates among all its applicants and notifies them in a document to the Office of Global Affairs, together with the accumulated academic average of the student throughout the undergraduate degree.
  5. Interview of the Office of Global Affairs, University Welfare and the Faculty of Nursing: the students preselected by the faculty, will have an interview in order to provide a report to the Global Affairs Committee, about the perception of each candidate.
  6. Choice by the faculty of the person to whom the scholarship will be awarded.
  7. The Faculty of Nursing and the Office of Global Affairs will notify the student chosen as the beneficiary and will formally deliver the scholarship to the student chosen as the beneficiary and the legal procedures to travel to Canada will begin.

With the purpose of encouraging academic mobility abroad, the Medina Family signed a Donation Act with the CES University since 2005, to benefit a student of the University's undergraduate Medicine, in order that said student can participate in an international mobility.

Requirements to be a recipient of the scholarship:
• Be an undergraduate medical student.
• Be accepted by an international institution to participate in an international mobility.
• Have an excellent academic and attitudinal performance throughout their undergraduate degree.

Selection process:
1. Based on the academic and attitudinal performance of the students who will be participating in an international mobility, each year the Council of the Faculty of Medicine, preselects 3 candidates to be beneficiaries of the scholarship and notifies their names to the Office Global Affairs, along with the following documentation:

• CV
• Ratings
• Letter of intent from the student addressed to the Medina Villegas Family
• Minutes in which the 3 shortlisted students are notified

2. The Faculty of Medicine nominates the 3 candidates to the Medina Family, together with their respective documentation.

3. The Medina Family, based on the documentation obtained from each student, decides which is the beneficiary student of the scholarship and notifies the name of the same to the Global Affairs Office.

Scholarship Features:

• The scholarship is awarded to one (1) single undergraduate Medicine student once a year.
• Students who participate in international mobility both during the first and second semesters of the year can be beneficiaries of the scholarship.
• The scholarship until 2014 provided financial support for the total value of one thousand American dollars (US $ 1,000). As of 2015, the scholarship provides financial support for the total value of one million (1,000,000) Colombian pesos.

Commitments of the student beneficiary of the scholarship:
• The grantee must present to the CES University and to the donor a report on the achievements and studies carried out during the time they were participating in their international mobility.

Scholarship Assignment Period:

Description of the scholarship:

The Program “Becas Iberoamérica. Santander Grado Colombia ”is aimed at undergraduate students from Colombian universities who have completed at least half of the credits or have passed the first two years of their studies,

Its purpose is to facilitate the monitoring of their studies during an academic semester at a participating university (list) in a country other than that of the Origin University.

Criteria to be able to apply for support: undergraduate and graduate students from any academic program of CES University, who have an accumulated average throughout their program of at least 3.8, who have completed at least half of their semesters and who wish to carry out an international exchange in an institution abroad; ideally it has an agreement with the CES University.

They must have the endorsement of their faculty and be clear about objectives, destination and institution / company where the exchange will take place.

Note: the exchange must be carried out in the semester immediately following the one in which the support is received. It will not be reserved for other semesters.

An academic semester is understood to be the one corresponding to the Colombian academic calendar (January-July and July-December), as well as the one corresponding to other countries (mostly from January to May and from September to December).

Assignment process for international exchange support:

4. Interview of the Office of Global Affairs, University Welfare and the Office of Sustainability: the students shortlisted for each academic program, will have this interview in order to provide a report to the Scholarship Committee, about the perception of each candidate.

Election by the Scholarship Committee of the beneficiary and official communication: the Scholarship Committee will study each of the documents and the report presented, and will make the decision on the person to whom the support will be granted, once this The decision will be notified to the candidates.

• The scholarship grants 800 EUROS per month for maintenance (5 months) and 1,500 EUROS for tickets; for a total of 5,500 EUROS.
