Colombian Institute of Tropical Medicine (ICMT)

Molecular biology and immunofluorescence tests, among other specialized tests, are carried out at the ICMT facilities. These spaces have state-of-the-art technology that allows testing for the public and private sectors and the provision of specialized services.

The laboratories have high-tech equipment that support teaching, research, and extension in all undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide the possibility of rotating national and international students.

ICMT Veterinary Clinical Laboratory

The Veterinary Clinical Laboratory has automated equipment in the area of hematology and blood chemistry, coagulation, blood gases, ELISAS equipment, microscopes, incubators, refrigerators, pipettes and computers to manage all the information.

The laboratory fulfills a teaching role by accompanying students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics as well as students from other universities nationwide. In this space the students know all the processes in areas such as: hematology, blood chemistry, parasitology, urinalysis, microbiology and immunology in different animal species. At the end of the rotation, the students have the ability to process, analyze and report the different tests that are done in the laboratory applied to the patients' clinic.

The laboratory provides services to the veterinary clinic and external clients in the swine, bovine, equine, canine and feline area; In the area of wildlife, samples of various species are also processed thanks to the agreements that the university has with entities such as the Santa Fe Zoo, Hacienda Napoles, Corantioquia, among others.

In research, the laboratory supports the sample processing part in several of the university's undergraduate and graduate students' projects for their undergraduate work.
