Regarding the process of electing the student representatives to the Academic Council of the CES University, for the period 2020, the higher education institution is allowed to inform the entire university community the following:
1. The members of the Superior Council of the CES University, meeting in a plenary room on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, learned about the report presented by the rector of the institution, Dr. Jorge Julián Osorio Gómez, on the suspension of the election process of the student representatives to the Academic Council for the 2020 period.
2. The report realizes that the institution recognizes the shortcomings in the verification of the institutional Information System, which enabled the alternate candidate, Tomás Giraldo Hinestroza, to aspire to the establishment, despite being a NON-ACTIVE student, that is, He is not REGISTERED so he is currently performing monitoring activities at the Faculty of Medicine. In addition, the Office of Admissions, Registration and Academic Control certified that the current quality of Giraldo Hinestroza is "Temporary Voluntary Withdrawal with reserved space", approved by the Faculty Council 1093 of May 3, 2019 in order to prepare to present the USMLE Step 1 in January 2020.
3. With this administrative condition, the full session of September 25, 2019 of the Superior Council of the CES University decided to RATIFY the election for the Academic Council of the plate made up of the students Sara Valderrama Marín (principal) and Andrés Felipe Arango Gaviria ( Alternate) elected with 234 votes on September 19, 2019 and declare ANNULLED the panel made up of Pedro Juan Saldarriaga Muñoz (Principal) and Tomás Giraldo Hinestroza (Alternate). The decision was adopted in accordance with the Student Regulations, specifically in Paragraph 2 of Article 15, Chapter VI.
4. The members of the Superior Council reiterated that the cancellation of the plate was NOT due to the commission of an unlawful criminal nature, attributable to the candidates, but due to a verification error in the University Information System. For this reason, they once again expressed their most sincere apologies to the applicants who were involved, to all the candidates and to the university community in general.
