The CES University of Medellín, the first institution to prohibit the use of single-use plastics such as straws, glasses, plates and PET and styrofoam bottles, will host the discussion forum of the Bill that seeks to prohibit these elements in Colombia. which is being processed in the Congress of the Republic.
The public hearing was convened by the representative to the Chamber, Harry González García, who leads Bill 175/2018, for August 30, 2019 in the Aula Máxima Alfonso Escobar Rojas of the CES University from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. : 00 m. Currently, the initiative that seeks to ban single-use plastics in Colombia is pending approval in the second plenary debate of the House of Representatives.

According to a letter sent to the directives of the University, for the Congress of the Republic, the institution highlights the “leadership and prestige that this university has in the Region (…) especially taking into consideration the decision taken by you to prohibit the single-use plastics within the university campus ”.
The discussions would be transferred to seven other regional public hearings to discuss the Bill in order to build the presentation for the second debate. The purpose is to know the needs and scope of the initiative, according to the realities of each of the regions in the country.
