Andrés Velásquez Hoyos, a graduate of the CES University School of Medicine, won first place in the Painting category at the VII Painting and Drawing Contest for his work Portrait of an infant-Tribute to Adriana Duque.
The doctor, who graduated from CES University in 2014, participated with a work painted in acrylic, where he replicates one of the photographs taken by Adriana Duque, a Colombian artist who is characterized by taking portraits of children on stage and with clothes that simulate classic children's stories.
"For his successful deconstruction of the image, handling of the technique, color and good proposal", highlighted the minutes of the jury that qualified his work and which was made up of three artists.
This contest was organized by the Colombian Association of Universities (Ascun), which groups together the Higher Education Institutions of the country, and had the participation of 149 works, including painting and drawing, from 29 institutions throughout Colombia.
“From a very young age I have focused on painting, and although I was in training schools, most of my learning is self-taught. I painted the work between April and May, as a tribute to Adriana Duque, an artist I have followed for a long time.”, Explained the graduate.
His work, as well as the others that participated in the contest, can be visited at the virtual exhibition.
