“We are our memory, we are that chimerical museum of fickle shapes, that pile of broken mirrors”This is how Jorge Luis Borges, the Argentine poet, essayist and writer, whose life and work will be put on the board at the CES University of Medellín, can be remembered in some of his many phrases as part of the celebrations of his birth on 24 August.
Conversation about Borges, reason and blindness is the space that the Department of Humanities and the Editorial CES, both from the CES University, will have to celebrate the 120 years of the writer's birth. It will be a conversation to address issues related to the life and work of the author, which will be led by professors José Guillermo 'Memo' Ánjel and Reinaldo Spitaletta, with the moderation of professor Mauricio Taborda Alzate.
“The purpose is to commemorate and celebrate the 120 years of the birth of Jorge Luis Borges (August 24, 1899) and also to present the book entitled: Being in Poetry by Jorge Luis Borges. The University, since its foundation, has been interested in comprehensive training. For this reason, the Humanities are a priority in the educational proposal and the social commitment of the institution”, Said Mauricio Taborda Alzate, professor from the Department of Humanities of the U. CES.
About the book, Being in Poetry by Jorge Luis Borges, stands out a work that addresses poetry and philosophy in the writer from Buenos Aires. This is a publication that is a co-edition between Editorial CES and Editorial UPB, whose author is Professor Taborda Alzate.
The event will be this Thursday, August 22, 2019, between 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm in room B-1004 of the CES University, El Poblado headquarters
It is aimed at the general public, it is not only for specialists in literature, with free admission.
