Thirteen students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics were on November 15, 2020 in the Cisneros municipality, northeast of the Antioquia department, conducting a health day in 119 horses in the area.
The students were members of EquiCES, a study group of this Faculty that focuses on the investigation of these animals. The services, which were provided to the beneficiaries free of charge, focused on physical evaluation of horses, pregnancy checks in mares, deworming, vitaminization, vaccination and grinding of teeth.
“In Cisneros that day was celebrated the Day of the Horse, a date that has been institutionalized and that was the ideal opportunity for all activities to be in favor of this animal. In addition, it is a very important field for students to begin to face their work in real scenarios.”, Explained Daniel Molina Palacios, professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics who accompanied the activities.
The teacher added that the horses that were presented to the day were in good health, which showed the owners' interest in giving them comprehensive care by adding the knowledge and treatments that students and teachers gave them.
Sara Villa Gonzáles, in the sixth semester of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, explained that for her the expectations she had of the visit were fulfilled, since the accompaniment of the professors and veterinary doctors was comprehensive, both in advice on issues that she still did not understand as in the disposition of implements to work.
The day was accompanied by professors, members of the Cisneros Mayor's Office and the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA).
