The IPS CES Sabaneta "Pain Clinic" project was born from an alliance between dental, physiotherapy and psychology care centers, as a result of specific cases, where many patients came with chronic, persistent pain without a biological basis. Therefore, from these services a multidisciplinary care can be provided that works to manage these situations.
"Spaces for relaxation and anxiety management" are sessions that are being implemented on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the IPS CES Sabaneta, for now with free admission, since the intention is to apply some scales of measurement that allow to identify the functionality of the activity, to later carry them out with the patients.
"These spaces are made up of a psychoeducation on issues inherent to the human being, a group or individual meditation and the application of surveys at the beginning and at the end of the session, which are those that will confirm the effectiveness in the reduction or control of the anxiety and pain that the patient has ”, commented María Camila González, apprentice in the area of Psychology.
This initiative arises from the Maxillofacial Surgeon and teacher, Gustavo Ortiz, in the company of José Miguel Soto and María Camila González, psychology practitioners at the IPS CES Sabaneta. All of them identified that psychological factors have a direct relationship with the ailments that patients experience and that do not end with medication.
