With state-of-the-art equipment, modern facilities and specialized personnel, the Center for Advanced Studies in Nutrition and Food (CESNUTRAL) of the CES University was the choice of the directors of the professional soccer team Deportivo Independiente Medellín (DIM) to carry out of anthropometric examinations.

The tests consist of taking body measurements to analyze the percentage of muscle mass, bone tissue and fat in the soccer player; and thus determine the most appropriate nutritional and dietary interventions for each one.

The coordinator of the Master in Sports Nutrition at the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the CES University, Maximiliano Kammerer López, affirms that “we seek to make a precise and exact prescription from the dietary point of view, which allows us to design a eating plan for each player, with the aim of improving their performance, additionally avoiding injuries and preventing some type of illness ”.

These tests are essential in athletes, since through their results an attempt is made to improve their nutritional component. It is important to note that a research project is also being carried out with data from the players, articulating it with the biotype and genetics of the Colombian professional soccer player.

"We chose to carry out the evaluations with the CES University, because it is being a pioneer in the nutritional issue, since it has a master's degree in sports nutrition and this shows that it is at the forefront in the subject of body composition in athletes," said Dr. Édgar Méndez, Deportivo Independiente Medellín doctor, who hopes that by the end of September the entire professional team will be evaluated.

Among those who have already made the evaluations are the players Elvis Perlaza, Sebastián Macías and Yhojan Arenas.
