The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the CES University was in the municipality of San Martín, department of Meta, taking 30 people from different regions of the Eastern Plains, training on the rational management and welfare of working horses and cattle.
“The rational management of equines and bovines is based on understanding the behavior of these animals so that the people who work with them can treat them well and guarantee their animal welfare, avoiding the risk of possible accidents, both for animals and humans that affect them. they drive”, Expressed the teacher Juan Fernando Naranjo Ramírez, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics
The 30 attendees came from livestock departments such as Meta, Arauca, Casanare and Vichada, who met at the La Argelia farm, in the municipality of San Martín. In addition to the management of horses and cattle, steps were taken to define educational projects in the area between the CES University and the livestock companies of this region.
“This training wanted to develop technologies adjusted to the needs of the productive sector and transfer knowledge with the people of the area, specifically on issues of bovine and equine welfare, seeking that the regions of the country also have this knowledge”Said the dean of the Faculty, Jhon Didier Ruiz Buitrago.
Professor Naranjo Ramírez added that, despite the pandemic, it is important that the University can contribute to an economic sector that has not stopped at this time, and that cannot stop, since it is part of the country's capacity to provide food and supply the main urban centers of the country.
The CES University came to this region thanks to the agreement it has with the company Somex SA, specialized in the commercialization of agricultural inputs.
