The work of the Faculty of Dentistry of our University is to attend to the multiple problems caused by cavities and oral hygiene problems, by controlling carious foci either by restoring these teeth or performing extractions. In addition, they reinforce the brushing and the use of dental floss to the caregivers, since they are the ones who have full responsibility for the management of these patients.
"For our practicing students this experience has been important because all their technical and academic resources and that social sensitivity come to the fore in the midst of difficulties and limitations," said the Faculty teacher, Alejandro Palacios.
Between 2017 and 2019, 9 days of general dentistry and 12 days of Pediatric Dentistry were held, for a total of 21 days of oral health where 216 services were carried out to the users of the Be Capaz en Casa project in conjunction with the CES University and Metrosalud. For 2019, the attention of 134 users is projected: 54 users in pediatric dentistry sessions and 80 users in general dentistry sessions.
When the care of each of the patients ends, the office becomes a celebration room, where patients are given ice cream or oral hygiene kits, and photographs are taken so that they feel that they are at a party, where they are the protagonists of that moment.
