On August 8, the Reflection Workshop on the institutional architecture in matters of inspection and surveillance applied to Higher Education Institutions (IES) was held at the CES University, in Medellín, aimed at rectors and general secretaries of the universities of Antioquia and the Coffee Axis.
The main objective of the workshop was to reflect on how the inspection and surveillance system applied to HEIs in Colombia is currently constituted, this reflection was built from the resolution of four fundamental questions: what are the qualities of good self-regulation ? What is the usefulness of inspection and surveillance? What are the limits of inspection and surveillance? And, what matters or objects should be inspection and surveillance?
Additionally, the workshop intended to investigate whether it should be the Ministry of National Education, or in its place, a new entity (Superintendency of Education) that is in charge of inspection and surveillance functions at all educational levels.
