The University's Pediatric Infectious Disease program was created in 2012 and since then it has trained specialists with the highest quality, who respond to the needs of care for children with infectious diseases. It is characterized by its academic demand and by having rotating fields and a highly qualified teaching group that allows the resident to acquire all the theoretical and practical knowledge for their performance as a specialist in this area.

Among the rotation fields that stand out in the program are the Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital, the San Vicente Fundación University Hospital and the General Hospital of Medellín, institutions recognized for the quality care of pediatric patients. In addition, the program includes within its curriculum rotations abroad that allow the resident to have a broad and global vision of the specialty, specifically at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine, Lima, Peru, through an agreement with the Cayetano Heredia University.
