Our professionals are part of multidisciplinary teams for the management of craniofacial anomalies and ethiopathologies of greater complexity that require the assistance of different specialists.

The maxillofacial surgeon actively participates with the orthodontist in the diagnosis and treatment of the different dentofacial anomalies; and in multidisciplinary teams for the treatment of highly complex patients.

Finally, we want to provide society with leaders who will direct their specialty and project the philosophy of CES University on a national and international level.

Our program lasts 4 years divided into: two years of theory and rotations in basic sciences of dentistry and medicine; and two years of rotations in the different areas of the specialty.

We have rotation venues such as the General Hospital in Medellin, the CES Clinic, the Manuel Uribe Angel Hospital in Envigado, and the Northern Clinic in Bello, among others.

In addition, at the CES Clinic in Medellin our residents have the opportunity to interact with different medical specialties such as: internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, plastic surgery, oral surgery.

From the second year and for the rest of the residency, students attend the seminar on dentofacial anomalies to study patients requiring orthodontic treatment and surgery.

The training is personalized, since only two students are admitted per year, so that they have all the opportunities for experience that will allow them to acquire an excellent academic preparation.

The program develops a critical and constructive capacity in the specialists. It allows them to understand and address the problems of

health/disease with an integral vision of being, by using the tools provided by the social sciences together with the basic, biomedical and administrative sciences in diagnosis and treatment.

The postgraduate course has agreements in foreign universities with international teachers for academic and teaching activities in different parts of the world. We also carry out academic and research exchanges, with permanent assistance from outstanding teachers worldwide.

Our specialists are able to make the diagnosis and treatment plan for pathologies – developmental abnormalities and traumatic injuries of the maxillofacial area.

They also have the knowledge to be part of the interdisciplinary team (medical and dental) that manages a patient with traumatic injuries, both at the office level and at the hospital level.

They integrate multidisciplinary teams for the management of craniofacial anomalies and etiopathologies of greater complexity that require the assistance of different specialists.

He actively participates with the orthodontist in the diagnosis and treatment of the different dentofacial anomalies.

and scholarships

At the University we offer financing options and scholarships to our students with entities in agreement.

You must pass all curriculum subjects and specific requirements for each program, reported in the minutes by the Promotion Committee, in addition:

1. Have submitted the evidence in force that the State determines to be obligatory.
2. Have fulfilled the requirement of a second language as stated in the agreement of the High Council.

3. Submitted the certificate of attendance to the CES Chair.
4. Payment of the degree fees, as set out in the financial entitlements.
5. Approval of the graduate work or research.
6. Be in good standing with the University for every concept.

There are multiple professional performance opportunities for a graduate of the specialization in Maxillofacial Surgery at CES University, which range from working in interdisciplinary groups that handle highly complex patients, patients with cleft lip and palate and medically compromised patients at the hospital level, to forming work teams for hospital care with systemic problems that require third and fourth level management. Likewise, it can play a fundamental role in the care of patients with craniofacial growth and development problems, together with the orthodontist, who require multidisciplinary treatment.

At the level of universities and different research groups, the specialist can work as an undergraduate and postgraduate teacher and be part of research groups in the different areas of maxillofacial surgery. Currently, several of our graduates are working as teachers and presidents of scientific associations, nationwide.

In private practice, you can be part of interdisciplinary groups in the different private clinics, or individually do your private practice in your private office.
